Learning Lions is a non-profit organization in Turkana Country, Kenya, which trains young adults in software development, graphic design and media production, thereby equipping them with the skills to work as freelancers for clients worldwide via micro tasking platforms. Over 50 young adults have already been trained, and the first are now operating successfully as freelancers. The concept works – so much so, that there are now defined plans to set up a dedicated campus by 2019 where 1,000 young adults can learn, live and work. This remarkable project gives them the prospect of a real profession, thereby combating the causes of global migration.
HOW GOETZPARTNERS HELPS
goetzpartners began supporting the Learning Lions in early 2017. Support takes the form of funding from the goetzpartners Foundation and pro bono projects. We help the Learning Lions with what we do best: advising and networking. Specifically, we are helping to review the business model and validate business planning, and are also targeting lenders for the next round of financing so the planned campus can quickly become a reality.
