Stiftung Lesen Pro Bono Project
Reading skills – and the enjoyment of reading – are vital to realizing one’s potential and leading a fulfilled life. This is the not just the view of Jörg Maas, Managing Director of the Foundation Stiftung Lesen. Working closely with federal and state ministries, science institutions, foundations, associations and businesses, Stiftung Lesen conducts broad-based programs, research and model projects to ensure every child and adolescent has access to reading. The initiatives include Germany’s Read Aloud Day, World Book Day and “Lesestart (or “Start Reading”).
Stiftung Lesen is one of the best-known and most successful foundations in Germany. By consistently building connections with ministries, research organizations and businesses, it has evolved a unique impact that today reaches every school, every teacher, every pediatrician, every initial reception facility for refugees, and ultimately every child and adolescent.
