I joined goetzpartners as an intern in 2017 to find out if I really wanted to start my career in M&A. In the six months as an intern, I experienced a very challenging but also exciting work environment with really authentic, dedicated people who did not hesitate to give me considerable responsibilities to help me grow tremendously. When I was offered a permanent position at the end of my internship, I accepted immediately without hesitation.
In my work at goetzpartners, I have been involved in several cross-border projects where I worked closely with colleagues from our international offices. I particularly remember a buy-side mandate for a US client where I was both the only team member from Paris and the less-experienced one, while the rest of the team was based in Germany. In addition to the very challenging subject matter of the project, I also had to get used to a different work culture and leave my comfort zone. I learned a lot from the project and was also able to expand my international network, which I still benefit from today.
Besides our projects, we have the opportunity to get involved internally. After having started as an intern myself, I have now become a member of the intern recruiting team and am responsible for attracting good interns to goetzpartners. It’s exciting to be on the other side now. In addition, I am responsible for project staffing, which is determined in weekly meetings. These activities are not project related, but in the end, they help me to develop my management skills along the way.
After two years of Classes Préparatoires in Paris, I completed my Master of Science with a focus on corporate finance at emlyon business school. At the same time, I completed my Bachelor of Law at the University of Lyon — thus earning a double degree. Before joining goetzpartners, I gained my first work experiences in various internships, among them in the business-development department of a start-up in Bangkok and in the rating advisory team of Crédit Agricole CIB.
