During my application phase, a friend who had just completed an internship at goetzpartners told me about his experiences and the company’s open and friendly culture. So I applied and could only confirm his impression during my job interviews: Despite the test situation, the atmosphere was relaxed and easygoing. My counterpart was not only interested in what I knew but also in what kind of person I am. When I received the job offer, I did not have to think it over for long; I accepted it on the spot. Meanwhile I have been with goetzpartners for several years and I can still say that it was the right decision.
My first project at goetzpartners was a commercial due diligence with colleagues from the private equity practice. From day 1 on, I was accepted as a full team member with my own area of responsibility. The biggest challenge for me as a newcomer was the extremely high pace of the work, which is usual among financial investors. With the support of my experienced colleagues I quickly became familiar with the methods and processes – a great "training on the job" experience. In the end we were able to deliver the report on time. We were very satisfied with the result – but what’s more, our client was too.
Besides the classical client projects, goetzpartners is involved in several different CSR initiatives and encourages everyone to actively participate. I support, for example, the initiative at the Mädchenheim (girls’ home) in Gauting, where we are helping to renovate the main building and lay out the garden. And spending time out and about in the fresh air after going to the Oktoberfest with the whole team the night before is also a welcome change.
Furthermore, goetzpartners offers a lot of flexibility through different work time programs like 10+2, 11+1 or sabbatical leave. My dream is to cross the Atlantic Ocean with a sailing boat and the prospects are pretty good that I will fulfill this dream during my planned sabbatical next year.
In 2017, I completed my Master in Management and Technology at the TU Munich. During my university time I spent a semester abroad at Tongji University in China and went to South Africa for an internship. It was fascinating for me to dive into and get to know completely different cultures for two periods of six months. Through internships at various industrial companies and management consultancies, it was soon clear to me that I wanted to start my career in consulting and work internationally – and this is how I came to goetzpartners.
